Question & Answer

Why use RipBlades when I can buy blades at home depot?

If you are cutting roofing material RipBlades last SIX times as longer than anything on the market. It would cost $90 dollars to cut 90 squares (9000 Square feet) into 2' x 2' squares with traditional saw blades. That would take SIX blades. It would take 1 RipBlade to cut the same area for $30 dollars. (Not to mention the time it takes to change the saw blade six times.)

Do RipBlades clog up with tar?

No, They are designed like flat roofing blades that are always releasing from the roof, so there is limited friction and they don't heat up.

Can RipBlades cut through nails?

Yes they can cut through nails.

Can RipBlades be sharpened?

If the saw is in a RipCart you can, because the saw is surrounded by the cart. ( If you take the saw out of the cart make sure you put the guard back on). If the saw is not in a RipCart follow the saw manufacturer's recommendations.

Should I take the guard off my saw so it won't clog up?

If the saw is in a RipCart you can, because the saw is surrounded by the cart. ( If you take the saw out of the cart make sure you put the guard back on). If the saw is not in a RipCart follow the saw manufacturer's recommendations.

What is the difference between the 3x and the 5x blade?

The 3x is best for thick material such as 3 layers of shingles or built up roofing. Since there are only three teeth on the blade there is less friction on the blade and it hacks but does not get hot or bogged down.

The 5x is the most versatile and longest lasting. It cuts through shingles, flat roofing materials and wood. It can also be used for one layer cutting because there are more teeth (5) hitting the cutting surface more consistently.

Do you have to have a special saw to use RipBlades?

No, RipBlades fit any 7 1/4 circular saw.
